Beyond Borders presents - My Son the Hurricane with The Wild turkeys 2010.04.09
With their roots deeply planted in the big brass sounds of New Orleans, and an indie spirit that refuses to be pigeonholed or defined, Ontario's My Son The Hurricane will blow away your pre-conceived notions of the genre. Combining catchy horn lines and a thumping, driving bass with uniquely phrased, hip-hop inspired vocals that drive the album, My Son The Hurricane will appeal to Hip-Hop and Indie fans alike, while paying homage to the big brass bands that came before them.
My Son The Hurricane recorded their first recording with legendary Producer Paul Riemens at Grant Avenue Studio in Hamilton, Ontario (Bob Dylan, U2, Ani Difranco). The fusing of the great producer and the big band vibe made their debut EP "Check the Barometer" an instant indie hit, garnering major play time on college radio not to mention countless iPods. The music jamming out of those white headphones is a modern take on the old school New Orleans style.
With their debut release under their belt, My Son The Hurricane is thrilled to hit the road and bring their music back to the people. Sure to excite fans of hip-hop, funk, and jazz, My Son The Hurricane has something to offer fans of all ages and genres, and should be on everyone's to-see list in 2010.
